Lala López has been passionate about photography since early childhood, she was born in Manizales, Colombia, where she studied industrial design. She took her first picture at the age of six, and ever since that moment the camera has been her constant companion. Lala worked for several years as commercial director for a number of construction firms. Her job required traveling through her native Colombia, as well as abroad, and she has done it, of course, with her camera in hand.
While organizing her picture archive recently, she discovered she had another passion of which she was unaware: taking pictures of bicycles. She had over 500 photos saved! Both new and old and rusted, bicycles of all colors. Whether leaning against a lamppost or a wall or casually parked next to a shutter or a colonial style door. In short, all kinds of bicycles. But why the bikes? The photographer responds in her own words:
